About Us
Chinese Academy of Cleveland
Established in 1973, the Chinese Academy of Cleveland (CAoC) is one of the oldest Chinese schools in the metro Cleveland area. CAoC is a non-profit organization with 5 board members and various administrators, including the principal, and vice treasurer. Our mission is to promote Chinese culture and teach Mandarin to the next generation.
Currently, CAoC is located at Shaker Heights Middle School. Every year, we have over 100 students enrolled in two age-based tracks. We also offer CSL classes for adults, as well as other cultural classes such as Chinese calligraphy. To enhance the interaction between students and teachers, each class has only 5 to 10 students. Our curriculum adopts both Bopomofo and Pinyin systems. Students have the choice of learning either traditional or simplified characters. We regularly teach Mandarin every Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12:00, and we also arrange courses on various cultural topics at irregular intervals. We encourage students to learn happily and improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, laying a solid foundation for learning Mandarin.

克里夫蘭中文院 (Chinese Academy of Cleveland) 正式成立於1973年，至今已51個年頭，是大克里夫蘭區最早成立的中文學校。本校屬非營利財團法人，成立五人董事會，並設有校長、副校長、教務主任，財務主任等職，以傳揚中華文化並教育下一代中文為宗旨。
中文院目前校址在謝克崗高地初中(Shaker Heights Middle High School)。目前有100多位學生， 分別在傳統班，第二語言班 (CSL Class)和成人班就讀。為增強老師與學生之間的互動，本校採用小班制教學。本校除了教授繁體及注音符號之外，並納入簡體字與漢語拼音為教學內容。本校定期於每週六早上10點至12點鐘教授中文及安排不同文化主題的課程，鼓勵學生們在快樂中學習並在聽、說、讀、寫上更上一層樓，為中文的學習奠下美好的基礎。
